How I helped shape up a new digital Art platform

How I helped shape up a new digital Art platform

Context

It is so easy to copy a digital work on the internet that creators sometimes hesitate to share and expose their work. Thanks to blockchain technology, ARTWAY provides a practical and modern solution by issuing a certificate of authenticity that links the author to his work and dates the deposit in a tamper-proof and permanent way.

Discovery

Empathize

Artway was very experimental, and as Lead Product Designer involved in the brand identity, UX/UI, and the overall visual communication strategy, I needed to understand the product-market to provide best solutions: I carried out several researches to have a vision of the scope such as a benchmark of direct and indirect competition, ideas for graphic inspirations, as well as a various user interviews (8 people from the Art and design field). From the interviews, a recurrent trend was the lack of accessibility to the NFT world (information and understanding), and bad experiences from other digital art platforms.

Define & ideate

How might we improve the experience of artists on digital Art? After a few sessions of ideation conducted with the tech team, I mapped out key user journeys and functionalities. Each features being prioritized to define a MVP, by submitting them to 4 principles: value risk, usability risk, feasibility risk and business viability risk.

Development

User flow, visual language & UI kit

The startup wasn't familiar with lean principles and design thinking processes: step-by-step, I evangelized the approach in order to align the tech team with my work. From the development of lo-fi mockups to the UI elements (learn more), we were able to progress quickly and provide a better vision of possible design solutions.

Delivery

Hi-fi mockups & Interactive prototype

After several iterations from the lo-fi mockups and the development in parallel of the components, I started to work on the Hi-fi version and build an interactive prototype: it was interesting to make various usability testing in order to highlight pain points and make adjustments and improvements before going into production.

Observations

Artway is still in it's early stages: alongside the tech team, we track and collect various metrics to highlight and prioritize improvement's areas, additional features, and adjust the roadmap accordingly. We’re proud to have achieved the first milestones with the MVP done, the release of the landing page, and the setup of a crowdfunding to help the project reach another level. Stay tuned!
